St Thomas the Apostle statue with a builder’s square and his hand at his chin, 11-foot stone finish apostle made for Gunadala Matha Shrine, Vijayawada
Collection  /  Apostles

St Thomas the Apostle

Shown in doubt, hand at his chin, before he said “My Lord and my God.”

About this statue

Thomas would not believe that Jesus had risen until he touched the wounds, and then made the plainest confession in the Gospels: “My Lord and my God” (John 20). By ancient tradition he brought the Gospel to India and was martyred at Mylapore. His feast falls on 3 July.

The builder’s square comes from the old story that he was a builder, sent to India to build a palace for a king.

We also make St Thomas with the spear of his martyrdom, as a single statue; see St Thomas the Apostle.

This is one of the twelve 11-foot apostles made for the facade of the Gunadala Matha Shrine, Vijayawada.

Materials, sizes and delivery
Sizes
From 3 feet upwards, made to order. Some designs start at 4 feet, so please ask us to confirm.
Material
Fibreglass (FRP), sculpted and painted by hand in our studio in Mangalore.
Colours
Any statue can be made in any colour, for indoors or outdoors: in a natural finish (in colour) or a stone finish (one colour, such as white or marble).
Outdoors
For gardens and grottos we suggest a stone finish. It is easier to look after, and stays fresh for longer through sun and monsoon.
Ordering
Every statue is made from scratch. We give a timeline with the quotation, and orders are taken first come, first served.
Delivery
Collect it from the studio, or we send it by road anywhere in India. Outside India, ask us about delivery.
