St James the Less

Called “the Less” to tell him from the other James; the first bishop of Jerusalem.

About this statue

James, the son of Alphaeus, is called “the Less” only to tell him from James the brother of John. Tradition makes him the first bishop of Jerusalem, where he was martyred with a club. He is remembered with St Philip on 3 May.

He stands with both hands crossed on his staff.

This is one of the twelve 11-foot apostles made for the facade of the Gunadala Matha Shrine, Vijayawada.

Materials, sizes and delivery
Sizes
From 3 feet upwards, made to order. Some designs start at 4 feet, so please ask us to confirm.
Material
Fibreglass (FRP), sculpted and painted by hand in our studio in Mangalore.
Colours
Any statue can be made in any colour, for indoors or outdoors: in a natural finish (in colour) or a stone finish (one colour, such as white or marble).
Outdoors
For gardens and grottos we suggest a stone finish. It is easier to look after, and stays fresh for longer through sun and monsoon.
Ordering
Every statue is made from scratch. We give a timeline with the quotation, and orders are taken first come, first served.
Delivery
Collect it from the studio, or we send it by road anywhere in India. Outside India, ask us about delivery.
